Sheqepare – albanian cookies

Albanian Sheqepare cookies – sweet and good.

Albanian Sheqepare


  • 2 cup of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cloves

  • Preparation

    Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

    Mix butter and one cup of sugar. Add the egg yolks and stir until mixture is smooth. Mix flour and baking soda till it will be good to create soft dough for forms.
    Roll dough to 1 cm thick. Cut out around 6cm wheels and put it on baking pan with baking paper. Bake about 20 minutes.
    Place the remaining sugar and water in small saucepan and cook on medium temperature about 10minutes. Remove and season with vanilla and cloves.

    Take the cookies from oven and let it cool. Pour with hot sugar syrup. Serve at room temperature.
